Long Beach Mixed-Use
The development aims to enhance the Long Beach community by providing a place for learning about, working within or engaging with a sustainable building environment. The design concept is inspired by the shipping container as an architectural element and the unique characteristics of Long Beach. Focusing on our holistic approach to sustainability, the program we established seeks to supplement rather than duplicate functions in the local area by developing a community space, collaborative workspace, hostel and roof park. A double skin façade creates a dynamic visual surface and enables passive heating and cooling. The design intent and process yielded a LEED Platinum project with a projected score of 94 points and a life cycle net-zero energy efficiency.
