We’re designing the first sustainable medical marijuana cultivation facility!!!
On September 8, 2016, the State of Ohio implemented House Bill 523, which legalized medical marijuana and set up a control program for its cultivation, processing, and distribution.
This past Friday, November 3, 2017, the Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program awarded the Level II cultivator licenses made available by the bill.
Urban Green Design Ltd. is pleased and excited to announce that we are part of a cultivator team that was awarded one of the licenses by the State.
We will be working with Galenas LLC, to provide the architecture and professional design services to develop this one-of-a-kind facility.
Not only are these facilities the first ever in Ohio, Urban Green Design Ltd. will be designing the facility for Midwest Development to meet LEED standards with the intent to make this the first sustainable, LEED certified medical marijuana cultivation facility in the country.
To achieve our goals, we will be employing rainwater harvesting, water reclamation, drip irrigation, passive solar design and thermal massing, LED lighting including the cultivation lamps, filtered Energy Recovery Ventilation, renewable energy through a solar panel system, and locally sourced, recycled content, and renewable materials among many other holistic, innovative design strategies.
Needless to say, we’re stoked to be working on this project!
